Differences in Ludwig Atlas Stand Models?

Loading...

Greetings,

I have two types of vintage Ludwig Atlas cymbal stands. I'm not sure of the model or terminology, so please forgive me if these questions seem rudimentary.

The one on the left (and in the last photo), I believe, is considered an Atlas. Is that correct? I know those base/tripod sections were also used with snare stands and practice pad stands. What is the official name of those stands and what years were they in production?

On the right (and in the second photo)is also an Atlas cymbal stand. It has the "rabbit ear" clamp on the base that holds the middle section that tapers to 5/8" to fit the top section. One of my all time favorite stands. Light and folds up compact, yet can really be adjusted high. What is the official name for this model stand, and what years was it in production?

Thanks for your help on this!

The stand on the right is an Atlas model. I'm not sure if the one on the left was ever in a catalog. It's the lower part of a snare stand coupled with the two upper sections of a flat based 1400 stand. Ludwig may have sold this combination of parts at some point but it was short lived if they did.
