Did Zildjian make a 26" A Ride

Drumaholic - Not to be argumentative, because I trust what you say! Just for some clarification. In the thread here about the mis-spelled “K Jildjian Question” cymbal you mentioned “No such thing was ever made by K. Zildjian.” in reference to a 32”. But in the quote above you mention that size. Is one size you mentioned a typo or something, or did Zildjian make a 32”. Could you please clarify? What am I missing here?

psssst.....

K Zildjian (K = Kerope) and A. Zildjian (A = Avedis) were 2 different companies up until around 1972. K Zildjians were made in Turkey. A Zildjians were always made in USA. In '72 The K Zildjian factory shut its doors and moved production to North America, in A. Zildjian facilities.

The other thread was about a K. Zildjian.

This thread is about an A. Zildjian.

From LUDLOVER

Thank you for the offer, I really appreciate it. I called them and the cymbal has a crack near the edge with a drill hole to prevent further expansion. I am passing on this one but once again thanks for the offer.

Well, even at 200.00 i would say its a good deal if the crack is not that big..Their was one of these on C/C[few weeks ago] list in ca for a 1,000.00 un-cracked...The last ride i had bigger than this one [it was a 30" ride] i sold to a friend in hollywood 10 years ago for 2,000.00 and he sells rents it out to this day..Mikey

IMHO - no cracked cymbal for sale is worth more than $50......

If one were so inclined .....you could offer $180....then have it cut down to (hopefully) 24" or 23" worst-case scenario, by a decent machinist for $25-50....then you may end up with a nice oversized ride cymbal.

But it may also kill the sound (because you are removing the thinnest part on a cymbal which is probably heavy to begin with).

I was able to "enlarge" using the tool in the lower right corner of the browser, IE 8, and it does indeed appear to be a crack that looks to have been cut with a Dremel or likewise, to maybe stop it from going all the way to the edge.
