Hey guys,
I know Ludwig developed several types of strainers through the years, but I was wondering if any of you have this drum and if the snare system works as advertised. I know nothing about this one.
Thanks for any input you might have.
Really? No one here can tell me anything about this Ludwig snare system? I'm wondering if it worked as advertised or if it was a failed experiment. I'm sure Mike Curotto and some others have at least some experience with this particular strainer.
Thanks.
I've never come across any drums set up for that "system" I can recall.
It appears the Super-Duo system was for parade drums.
Perhaps that's why no one's seen or heard of it?
Hey Rob is that really you, or someone borrowing your name? If it is you, it was good to see you at Bob’s chili party this year.
Ive never seen that strainer and I was marching from elementary school to my two tours with spirit of America.
I've seen one in the wild... I think it would have been used with both set engaged at the same time rather than either/or. I don't think many were made so it is a rare bird.

Never saw or heard of this before to my recollection, but for something apparently designed for use as a school drum I don't think the snare design was thought out well. From my experience back in Junior High School bands in the late '50s, the moving, storing, and handling of school percussion gear by students was too rough for a delicate looking snare system like that to survive very long. Even in high school something like that would have eventually gotten broken. I'm guessing Ludwig got the message very quickly and stopped making them.
