Did I just score some Rogers XP8's...Ploughman? Last viewed: 4 days ago

Loading...

Grabbed this set from GC today for $250.00 and I think they may be XP8's. The Dyna is missing the snare frame as usual and the hoops look pretty beat, plus some scratches and seam lift on the floor tom but it looks like a decent score overall.

Ploughman or any other Rogers experts out there give me and approximate date and confirmation on the XP8?

And did the XP8's not have the bass drum tension rod ends with the script R on them?

Here are the pics:

yes on XP8 series drums. By the serial you posted, 1979, some of the first issued. You set should have had Rogers T rods not the keyrods.

Now for 250.... you bought a DynaSonic and paid just a tad too much, but you got a free drumset.

Great score. Some of the wrap blemishes will buff out. Just go easy on how much you buff.

Thanks Ploughman! That was the info I was looking for! Any head suggestions for these drums? I am usually a Remo Ambassador/Emperor guy on my kits from the 60's but I understand this to be a different beast entirely.

I'd be really happy with your deal for 250. Quality vintage kit for half the price of a new junkier kit. Good job.

That's been my favorite combo on my Dayton's. Coated on both. Warm, punchy. Loved by every band I've used them with.....
