Dewey Snare Drum Question

Loading...

I just bought a Dewey snare drum shipping on the way, steel I presume, and I cannot seem to find any information about the Dewey Drum Company online. I suspect it is a MIJ drum, but would appreciate any background info you can supply. We've seen Dewey thrones up for sale recently, but snare drums not so much.

Your drum appears to be just another MIJ or MIT stencil drum. Where on the drum does it say "Dewey"? The tone control looks like what Tama was using. Not a lot of value in this drum, but if it sounds good and you're happy with it, that's all that matters!

Dewey must be on a part of the drum not photographed or on the accompanying hardshell case - who knows. It was shopgoodwill and a win at $29 including shipping I suppose. Fact that it had 10 lugs sort of separated it from all the other student metal drums listed there. I hope to just add this cheap steel drum to my collection if it tunes up or resell locally I suppose. I am grateful to you guys for your response, MIJ or MIT it is.

ssoccer,

Indeed this drum may in all likelihood be an MIJ, I would not discard it as trash. Ten lugs, although not rare in MIJ drums is nevertheless NOT the norm. Clean it up. Give it a proper tuning. You may be pleasantly surprised!
