Depth Of Vintage Ludwig Bass Drums

Loading...

Quick (and hopefully easy) one for you vintage Ludwig experts:

Did the Ludwig Drum Company produce any bass drums with its kits in the mid-60s that measured 20 x 16? Every 20 inch that I've researched was listed with a depth of 14 inches in lieu of 16. Am I missing something here?

THANKS in advance for your help!

No they did not. The jazzette set Ludwig made featured a 12x18 bass drum and maybe there are some sets that have 12" bass drums but definately not any bigger than a 14".

WFLKurt & O-Lugs:

THANKS for the feedback. A gentleman locally was advertising a vintage Ludwig OBP bass drum and listed it as a 20 x 17 1/2.

I contacted him and asked him to measure the drum WITHOUT the wooden hoops mounted. He stated that the shell measured 20 x 16. That still didn't make sense to me, so I wanted to check with "the experts."

I appreciate you input!
