I really like that kit you have Johnny. Great sounding drums. And it looks like ARCHxANGEL's too. I have to say that I bought a small Mapex MIC kit about 6 or 7 years back. 18,12,14 and snare. The quality was really good. I still have and use the pedal and it is a really nice solid pedal. The thing that draws me to the vintage stuff is memories and the architecture of the kits from those years. They are really beautiful. The Mapex was good, but it wasn't beautiful.
Decisions Decisions
PS ARCHxANGEL: I think I'd be more drawn to the blue sparkle too, though I cannot recall seeing either the lime green or purple sparkles, so my judgment is cautious.
PSS - Had you thought at all about Merlot sparkle or glass glitter that Precision is carrying? It's quite close to the old burgundy sparkle of years back. I did a Camco about 4 years ago. Someone had stripped it completely, including the interiors, and covered it with a very thin and cheap aqua sating flame that had ripped in several locations. So I had it done in Merlot. Looked pretty nice.
i might have enough for your kit in taye's blue crush if interested.
here's some pics for reference. last one is of the wrap against silver spkl:

its a little darker than blue sparkle with a black backing. pretty cool actually.
if you're going the route of home-made glitter, be prepared for a lot of work. there's several threads on this forum about this topic.
