Amazing job and story, thanks so much for sharing with us. You deserve a big ol' pat on the back. Vintage drums rule! I can never get enuff of this stuff. Thanks again, I wish I could buy you a pint.
Have you ever tried to contact Dave Clark? Recreating that picture in the newspaper article with Dave, Carol and John would be the icing on the cake for these drums and complete your documentation. - Tim
Tim, thanks for your kind comments. I have thought the same thing myself.
This is one super cool thread! Congratulations to you on the restoration and owning this fine piece of drum and early rock n' roll history.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading through the thread. Thanks for all your time and effort posting this for all of us to enjoy.
Just dragged this back for a quick update.
The photo of The Stones with my drum set was in Life Magazine 50 years of Rock and Roll from May this year. My copy arrived the other day and things got a little clearer.
This is a scan of more of the photo in the magazine (best I could do).

On the right of the photo the words "Go in 66" can be seen.
Compare that with this which is a photo of The Who during an episode of Ready Steady Go on New Years Eve 1965 entitled "The New Year Starts Here". This is where Keith Moon borrowed the set.

It is clear that this is the same stage set. The left hand side of the stage says "Go in 65" and the right hand side "Go in 66", and the centre has elements in common.
Looks like it was quite a show.
THE NEW YEAR STARTS HERE (Special New Years Show) ITV network from 10:52 pm until midnight (or until close-down).
Introduced by Keith Fordyce and Cathy McGowan
Guests:
The Animals
Chris Andrews
Dave Berry
The Dave Clark Five
Tom Jones
The Kinks
Lulu
Kenny Lynch
The Rolling Stones - "Satisfaction" & "Get Off Of My Cloud."
The Searchers - "Take Me For What I'm Worth."
Dusty Springfield
Also guesting, but not credited, Alfie Bass and Bill Fraser (Bootsie and Snudge) miming to The Righteous Brothers hit single "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"
r.adams207 submitted the following song titles:
The Who - "I Can't Explain."
Chris Andrews - "Girl Don't Come."
Tom Jones - "Chills And Fever."
Lulu - "Shout."
I wonder how many of these may have used the same drums. I might be looking for photos of The Kinks and The Animals with the drums.
The photographer of this image (same show) ............

If you Google this guys name, and click images, it is clear that he was responsible for a lot of iconic images from the 60s and 70s.
