Dating some Rogers Drums...Help

Loading...

Hi there everyone, I've popped in and out of here a few times looking around for info on a kit that came into my possession. I was hoping that I may recieve some assistance in dating these drums and a possble value perhaps.

First off the main drums are the Powertone series with a 14"x22" Kick, 9"x13" tom and a monster 16"x18" floor tom all in the same natural finish, I don't know much else about these drum except the 13" tom has the badge inside

witht the serial number 70118 and the 18" floor has the serial number 70137.

The bass has no tag but I have to assume the same era as the finish is the exact same.

The condition of the toms are great, still have the internal mufflers, no real visable damage. The bass however is another story, the hoops are pretty much shot and most of the t handles need to be replaced but the shell looks excellent. The other problems is the tom mount need to be replaced as well.I do have pics and will post at the end of all my rambling. No pics of the bass and floor tom as they are store in a spot thats a real you knopw what to get at, but the finish is the same as the 13".

Next in line we have a throw in tom that was with the kit. Its a 16"x16" in a little different natural finish and I think its what you guys call a Big R, the serial number is D106970, its in great condition as well.

Last but not least I have a Dyna-sonic that I really love on my own kit and was just curious of the age and value, its serial number is 32686.

Thanks a million in advance and here come the pics.

Don't think the legs on that floor tom came into use until early 80's. Had the older style mounts before then.

Not sure enough on the rest to be of hel and don't want to steer you wrong. Check catalogs on rogersdrums.com

Awesome info....

Well I dug out the bass and the 18" tonight to have a look and I don't see anything visably wrong with this drum. I would say its near mint except for the rubber feet on the stands.

The hardware and everthing is clean and bearing edges appear good aswell. I may try and sell on ebay as I'm under the understanding that an 18 inch floor tom is pretty rare. Would really like to get some opinions on its condition.

I took some more pics of this and the bass drum tonight.

There are only 4 T-handles that need replacing and one hoop is broken but may be fixable and both could be refinshed. Other than that there is very small amount of damage on the wrap near the egde in 2 spots. The rest of the shell looks very good.

I'm putting some pics up of everything I have.

First the 18 inch Beauty

You will not get alot out of them and 16x18 floor toms are quite common ones with 4 legs a little less common but 14x14 is the big money maker and late fullertons like those might draw 300-400 maybe the knobbies on the floor tom are the cast variety as are the collets on the tom holder and spur mounts they are less desirable than the machined ones from the Dayton and clevland ers or the transition to fullerton my kit has bot machined and cast...the dynasonic if it is complete and original and a 5and 1/2 by 14 COB will get 200-300 if it is really nice shiny clean bright ...hope that helps a bit..
