Dating my Star made kit - NO BADGES

Loading...

I want to welcome anyone else into the discussion as well - and want to attach pics - so making a thread out of this.

Hey Ralf - really nice job on you Star dating chart! That certainly is a wealth of information!

I am trying to figure mine out - as there were/are no badges on mine. Metal hoops, 8 BD lugs, spade tom mounting, wood snare. It is just not fitting into one of these years.

Another note: Shells are thin, but no re-rings. Considerably thinner than the typical 'thicker' post '67 shells that Pearl and Star switched to at the time. I anticipate that they will just SING!

I also have swapped out the floor tom leg mounts (before appreciation for originality)for some Pearl ones (Norma) with thumb screws......and also have sold the hoops off - to replace with wood black wood hoops. I will also be building a 10 inch add-on tom - already have all the parts, but not sure what shell to use (another thread on that a week or so ago).

Please see the attached pics and please give me your thoughts.

BTW - this kit is all disassembled, cleaned...

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thanks John, for your compliments.

As Star had this configuration (lugs, snare strainer, rail consolette) through all the times (I believe that), it's only for sure that it was manufactured between 1965 to 1974. Even this finish seemed to be published without discontinuation.

Is there any chance to see - or even just guess - a light/lightest indentation of/ scratches from a badge, placed perhaps around any of the airvents before?

Ralf
