From kevins

I don't understand this at all. Is there anything that points to the shells being from 1972?

I'm assuming the shells are clear interiors w/ re-rings, which could place them around '72. Lead to beleive that in the origional post, having those shells w/ '76 badges. But I should'nt assume. ;)

Pretty much what I just said. Still waiting for confirmation from the owner as to the plies. Hopefully, that will shed some light. Somewhat perplexing, UNLESS it's a 6 ply kit. Then it's business as usual and all the pieces fall into place.

These ARE 3-ply for sure and have maple (or "clear") interiors with re-rings. They're much more amber in color than the photo is showing. If it's any help, the bass drum's spurs are 5/16", not the later thicker 1/2".

ok.....wellywellwell.....what have we here.

Some of the Luddy shells were kept clear during the time when they had firmly adopted the speckled painted innerds. That much we do know. So, it could be that this is a 75-76ish kit assembled with clear shells. Due to the hardware and the innerds and the badge, it stands to reason. The stamps are merely a guideline...as is everything else connected with that freekin' company.

Kookel, you never did answer my inquiry as to if you are using the serial number charts on the Drum Guide here. It appears there is no conflict with the guide, shell ply configuration, or interiors?

Thanks
