Can someone in the forum help me date a couple of Dayton era Rogers drums I just picked up.The tom serial # is 108440.the kick # is 110686,they are solid but need a re-wrap.Also does anyone know if I can still get the original blue onyx wrap that Rogers put on these drums. And is there anyone who knows if anyone near Omaha,Ne.does a good job if wrapping them. This is a project that just happened to come up and I was lucky to have the funds avail.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Gary Van Fleet

Those would be later daytons, I would bet the interiors are the gray spatter paint instead of the flat gray interior. My 20" Dayton BD has ser. 1105xx, spatter interior. Probably 68, perhaps early 69, before the Fullerton Transition.

Ploughman:You are correct, the interiors are the gray spatter paint.Do you know if these were offered with a double rack mount tom?I cleaned them up last night and other than the wrap they look real solid. It appears that it had a mount in the top center of the kick, most of the older kits I`ve seen have one tom mount off to the side and a cymbal mount on the other, and like I say this appears to be dead center on top.I also noticed I got the 9x13 tom which is nice.I need spurs, they are on ebay, and the mount plate and swivomatic collar and the L arm if I go with just one tom or the double set up.Thanks for any help.Gary

The Rogers Catalogues called that a Londoner ..... the standard five piece, two toms on top of the bass drum. Sometimes the same size, 12's I think were the most common that way, but usualy a 12 and 13. The Big R era had a super londoner, with a 13 and 14 on top of a 24" BD. Buy the cleveland or early dayton era swivo mounts and collets, they are far more durable than 9/72 variety.

John,& Ploughman:Thanks for the info,I had a Londoner set in red onyx,in the early 70`s with a 12 and 13,with a 22 inch BD I added a 24 inch BD for awhile during my Ginger Baher era.I traded that whole kit in the eighties for a set of Simmons, and yes I must have been on something, but I was in a top forty cover band and needed the sounds the kit provided. Those were the worst excuse for a set of drums ever made.I now have just bought a duplicate of the last set of Rogers I had Mist Blue 1979 Big R five piece and ordered the matching 2, 14 and 15 inch toms on a stand.I probably won`t gig with that big of kit, just nice to have the whole set of matching drums. These are USA made Rogers.Since getting back into the groove so to speak, been out for almost 12 years have learned alot about Rogers,I used to just play them and know they were some of the best drums ever made IMO.Anyway thanks for the info,by the way the current set is matched up with of course a big R Dyna-Sonic snare, once again I think one of the best snares made.Later everyone.Gary P/S I`ll drop a couple of pics in once the guy in Co. ships the extra toms
