Hi all,
So, I’ve had this old K since junior high that I got in a trade with a friend. With this particular stamp, is it safe to date this instrument to the late 1920s? It’s about 17 3/4 inches, drilled for rivets, and has several very short cracks around the center hole. These were unfortunately drilled to stop the cracks from getting longer, so I’m guessing worth is diminished, which is okay - not really for sale right now.

I believe what you have there is a Type IIIc Old Stamp from around 1956-1957. I base that on the location of the star above the crescent, the wrapping and distance of the "Made in Turkey" around the crescent, the Arabic script being used, and the shape and size of the K in front of Zildjian. What about it gave you the impression it was from the 1920's?

I only checked zildjianstamps.com and they had a similar picture of a stamp that they say is from 1928. I admittedly didn’t do much research, just took a quick look online and posted the question. I know there are subtle differences in stamps from certain eras, I’m just not up on it. Thanks for the input 👍

I can't find any site by that name. Can you provide a link to it? In any case, I'm fairly positive that the stamp is from the mid 50's, and in any case is certainly not from 1928.
Also note that Istanbul was named Constantinople till 1930.

Yes that still holds true today. You can also find that K. timeline in the last pages of The Gretsch Book by Rob Cook.
