Just bought a Rogers BigR kit. Dont know a lot about Rogers and ws wondering if u could help me date it. Its a deep yellow color and the serial numbers are six digit numbers all beginning with 95 or 96. Its sizes are 13,14,18,24 and a 14x5 snare also starting with 95. Were these sizes available as a standard kit? Also is the snare likely to be COB.The shells only cost me £300 so im happy anyway, theres not a mark on it and no pitting anywhere i would just be really interested to know what ive got. Oh and the sound is absolutely amazing.
Date my Rogers! Pleeease!
a 14x5 snare is not information, use a magnet to see if it sticks to the shell. what is the colour of the drum kit interiors? give info to get info. simple. most likely 77 - 78. with grey interiors. a standard kit but not as popular as 22,16,13,12.
Sorry, havent used this site for long .Dont really know what to give as info.Thought the serial numbers might be enough. They are grey internally and the snare is chrome finish and a magnet does not stick. Thanks will know better from now on.

We have a couple resident members here who are experts in the Big R period and could confirm the year of manufacture, but if those six-digit serial numbers have an "RD" in front of them, that dates them to about 1980-1981. The color you have is "Spanish Gold"; very common finish. You bought a very nice set of shells there. Better sounding than anything £300 would buy you new. Post some pictures.
1979.That is a solid number. Shells are most likely five ply with reinforcing rings. Although............. they could be XP8. Those are transition numbers. Follow the links in my signature, and you will get more information.
I have not seen any RD six digit in the 95xxxx range. Yes on RD 96, 97, 98 six digits. 1981-82.
I wrote the guide.

I thought Spanish Gold was a more rare wrap?
