Over in another thread at http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?p=27396#post27396 I was given good advice about outfitting my Rogers Classmate single-thru-lug bass drum with Ego double-ended lugs to allow separately tunable heads. Well, I went to my practice space today and discovered I have exactly those lugs on a custom snare I have there! So I'd like to give it a try to see how it sounds.

Next question then is, how can I find 7.5 inch (or longer) tension rods? Do you know anyone that makes custom lengths? I'm willing to get a longer ones and cut threads in them with a die if need be.
