Custom Resonant Heads?

Loading...

I was curious if anyone ever has custom vintage drum heads made for their kits. If so, who did you have make it for you? Were you satisfied with the work, or more importantly wereyou dissatisfied with the work?!

I want a shield with my initials inside it (like Gene and Buddy) and I don't want it to look cheap or bad on my kit!!

Any input would be terrific!

There are without a doubt, many places where you could obtain/purchase a Vintage Style Logo... but! ... the best in my opinion, would be Jack Lawton of the Lawton Drum Company. Jack has done a few for me, the most recent being the front/resonant head on my 1948 WFL/Ludwig Buddy Rich Classic kit. I will attach a pic for you to see. Here's the thing with Jack though:

NO VINYL. Jack PAINTS the logo/initials by hand the way there were done originally and back in the day. The results are in a word... MINT. The paint looks correct/period, and with no worries of it coming off. The front/resonant head on my WFL/Ludwig 48's is an original Ludwig head with just the manufacturer logo... the rest was painted by Jack. Here is his contact info, and tell him Tommyp sent ya!

Drumart.com does great work...of course it's not hand painted.

The heads they did for me were great.

Thanks guys, I will check them out. What do these places normally charge? Ballpark figures I mean, if you know.

Thanks
