Beautiful work...love that inlay around the vent hole.

Been busy so I wasn't able to post these as I went along but here is the current project I just finished. This was a 30's era Leedy 24" Reliance bass drum that I got in recently and it had been painted red and blue with white tape added to give it that rustic American look. The drum had a little wear on it but the bones were good. The drum has a nice mahogany shell which was stripped down and sanded along with the hoops. The shell was stained and lacquered and the hoops were painted black. Custom ears were also made for the drum

A place where art and percussion collide... where a simple drum transforms beyond the boundaries of wood and hide. A place we call the CT Pro Percussion Zone... queue music now. Eye Ball

Newest project currently in the works. This is a 20"x9" luan shell that I picked up for a steal at the Nashville drum show and is going to become a childrens size rope tension bass drum.

Here is the bare shell, no holes anywhere, a completely new shell.

I have stained the shell and got the first coat of laquer on.

And I have started cutting out the ears and tooling them.

Another one of my projects that I had to bang out last night (yeah, I know, bad pun) on this djembe. This one was hand made in Ghana and has a massive head at just under 14" and shakes the house when I played it from the massive low end response in the center of the head.

Contact me if you have a djembe that needs to be reheaded.

Here are a couple of pictures of the drum before I put the new head on.

With almost 100 feet of rope on this drum it took about 5 and a half hours to un-string it, put a new head on it and then re-rope it and tighten it back up. What a monstrous sounding drum.

Well, here is the latest on the child sized bass drum. I got some hoops drilled out and the ears for this one finished. I have started to stain the hoops and will have a picture of those up in the day or two. I should have this drum finished up some time this week.

And the djembes start rolling in. This one only has about 45 feet of rope so it should go a little quicker than the last one.

A look inside the top for the curious. Completely hand carved.
