Yeah, Gerry (hazelshould) can sure write up some good press ! he's a good guy, funny a shell too...but I dunno...that's just a straight up more-or-less contemporary Avedis and 90% of those I have tried or heard have been really disappointing. I wouldn't go for it. For that dollar you can get a nice handmade....
I thought the price was a bit high. I am comfortable with Zildjian A's because I know I like them. I do have experience with Paiste but that is about it. To stay in my comfort zone I think I will try to find an old 22" Avedis with a nice big bell 2600 grams or under.
I dunno, Lud..I mean...seems like you hit harder than I do and play a different context, so maybe the Sweet is appropriate for you. For me (and my Firth SD4 Swingers) it made a nice ride...pretty darn decent, actually, for a new Zildjian....but just didn't crash well for me.
I am not familiar with the sticks you use but I use the same brand but 5A's. I guess I do hit somewhat hard but not always. That is why I am looking for a versatile cymbal.
The crazy part about Guitar Center is that you can buy a used cymbal out of state and return it to a local GC within 30 days for a full refund. You do lose on shipping though. I wouldn't beat the cymbal to death and try it but it is a nice option. It would get costly doing this too often though.
Does anyone have experience with Sabian 21" HHX vintage models?
