Craigslist find 22''

Here's a pretty nice 22" light ride i scored today for a trade and $75.00 2245g and wobbly.

I think it's 70's but could be 50's. Stamp is not quite 1 3/16 actually closer to 1 1/8". But the top lathing looks more like a 60's/70's while the bottom looks more 50's to me. Any guess from the experts?

No sign of any ink and the stamp shows nicely on the back side of the cymbal. Very nice wash that never gets out of control and plays nice with my other 50's cymbal.

Late 1950's. See that unique lathing strategy on the back? I've seen this before only reversed on a few cymbals. Course lathing towards the middle and smooth out towards the edge is most common. They no longer do anything like that these days. Every little thing that's done differently like that has its own unique affect on the sound and the way it plays. And these sorts of things were done just for that specific reason.

Thanks Bill, the underside lathing is really something to look at. This one is a keeper for sure.

BTW this is the second 22" i found on craigslist i came home with. My first was a hollow block big stamp at 2740g. Gave a hundred bucks and a common 18" crash/ride for it. Looks almost new(seller's dad owned it and stored it since the very early 70's). It's been fun breaking it in!

I'm really surprise what 500g lighter does to a cymbal, the 20 inch i traded was actually heavier(2285g). Seller said he just couldn't stand the sound of it? I'm so glad there are so many drummers out there that love the clangy ping cymbals of today!hehehe.
