on a 24" slingerland bass drum. Would this be worth buying? is it fixable? would it affect the drum much?

[COLOR="DarkRed"]Usually pretty fixable; some glue, some clamps, some sandpaper, maybe some wood filler at most.... but you didn't post a pic.
It's a GREAT price-negotiating point, though:
