Cracked Cymbals

I have several what used to be very nice cymbals that are cracked. Is it possable to make the cymbals smaller? I have a sabian 18" hhx evolution crash and a 16" also. I was thinking maybe one could but the cymbal on a lathe and turn it down past the cracks. Has anyone ever seen or done this?
