Cowbell

From GoneDrumming

I didn't know what it was, it came with a kit and got tossed in the "stuff" box. I think I'll put it on a shelf in my office. All I need is my 9 year old running around doing the more cowbell dance with this one..I did a search and one of these with the mount went for $250.

You won't believe this but i personally know the buyer, and he returned it, it was described as mint condition, and was pitted badly on one side, and he said it was a bad sounding cow bell, how does your sound??

Has anybody checked their old “trap” sets to see if their old cowbells had a hook inside for the “clapper” (the ringer that hangs inside a bell)?

I was wondering if maybe the drum companies would just use bells from farming supply companies, and when the drum companies might have started having special cowbells made just for drummers.

Well I'll be. Looks like GoneDrumming and I bought our cowbells at the same place. Was $4 the standard price on these? Is this a Goldtone as well? It's sure not in the same shape as GoneDrumming's. I do have this nifty old Ludwig mounting bracket, too.

And yes, it's a great bell. In fact, this may be the oldest piece of equipment that has seen the most use from me. Don't ruin it for me and make me nervous to really lay into it, though. My LP Black Beauty would be lonely without it.

Currently playing for loud rock and roll gigs:
1982 Ludwig Classic in white Cortex, 24-13-14-18 + Coliseum snare
For quieter gigs:
Early '70s Whitehall Tiger Eye Pearl 20-12-14-14
Neglected but thinking about:
Early '70s Sonor Champions in Rosewood, 22-12-13-16

vintagemore2000 - Ha! You know I like old. Or another way I look at it is “proven”, or “lasting” etc. Ha, ha, ha.

Thanks for letting me know! I’ve noticed some nice sounding cowbells at little antique shops here and there. Various sizes too. Of course they don’t sound like those nice big rockin’ contemporary bells.

Honestly you get the 4" or 6" version, and they are awesome, and usually they are cheap!!! i can't mount any of my hoop mounted equipment, with using modern plastic heads on the bass drum the volume and low end they produce vibrates the mounts right off the drum, Cooked Egg
