Cover up extra holes in bass drum?????

Loading...

Hello there I was wondering if someone could please help me cover up the extra holes in my 60's bass drum.

The holes are from the rail mount that was taken out and someone put a 70's tom mount into it... (I know, I know) at any rate I have these extra holes and really don't want to just put a railmount in because I don't use it, I put the tom in a snare stand. Anyways do you guys have any suggestions, carrage bolts I've seen is there anything else that is easy and won't damage the shell???

Thanks for your time here.

the trick here is to plug, not cover those holes.

you need some hardwood dowel, wood glue and a back cut saw.

cut some plugs about 1/2" long. apply glue and carefully tap in from inside. only go in thickness of shell so you don't lift the wrap.

Now VERY carefully cut flush with back cut saw. wipe up excess glue and let dry.

lite sand and yer done.
