I'm looking to buy this 1930s Carlton. The seller doesn't know if that's the original throw or not, but there aren't any extra holes. So yet again, I seek expert advice.
Thanks.

Perhaps one of the British members knows about this for sure. Here is what I know, which isn't a lot + a little guess work. Carlton was a brand of the J.E. Dallas company. Originally ,beginning in 1922 the components for the drums were made by Premier, then from 1925 by a company called A.F. Mathews. Only in 1935 did they begin making their own drums.
That throwoff, I have seen before-----perhaps on this very drum, though. It looks the same as the second version throwoffs on these drums but with a curved handle. Is it possible the handle has been bent ---either accidentally or intentionally?
Thanks Phil. If you've seen the throw on other Carltons, then I think the strainer is probably correct. It's a Carlton Standard, so I can get it pretty cheap and I love tube lugs. It's Bobby Chiasson's drum, and he always comes down off the price. I think I'll pick it up.
Thanks for all the info and history.
Best.
Stephen
