Greetings!
I picked up this cool little Tele-Star kit. It is the deepest blue I have seen on an MIJ from this era. Maybe this is what they looked like before fading (doesn't it seem like most MIJ Blue Sparkle kits are almost always faded in some way?)12/16/20. I will also be referring to this thread in the "For Sale" and "Wanting To Buy" sections, so here is the skinny:
-I love the color! So Cool! I have the wood hoops (with matching inlays) for the bass drum, but I am going to re-paint and re-lacquer them, and didn't want to assemble them just for the photos.
-Like Many MIJ "Club Date" style kits, the floor tom is dual lug.
-Anyone ever seen stick saver die-cast hoops before (rack tom-Pic 2)?
- I don't think it's a re-wrap-the "Made In Japan" sticker is still visible below the vent hole on the rack tom (also Pic 2).
-The re-rings on this kit are much wider and look more "professional" and well made than on other MIJ kits. Could they be Maple? (BD-Pic 3).
-I am missing the cymbal holder on top of the bass drum (Pic 4). Is it basically just a spur leg mount that goes there? The hole is 9/16" in diameter (just a touch over 1/2"). If so, does anyone have one?
-The floor tom (Vibra) will be for sale (or possibly trade) in the "For Sale" section. Check that section for the details.
-I am wanting a 14" x 14" floor tom (instead of that 16" x 16" Vibra). I am looking for a 14" x 14" shell if you have one (that will be in the "Wanted" section). Really any era. I would prefer 3-ply with re-rings, Blue Sparkle, with Club Date Lugs and Tele-Star branded, but I will take what I can get! Cool Dude
-I found the matching snare on ebay, for only a mere $250! electricit For what it's worth, the snare on ebay had the die-cast stick saver hoops too.
This seems like it was better made and a little more pro quality than most MIJ kits. Any opinions?
Anyway, just wanted to share this cool kit with you. Give me a shout if you have what I need, or want that floor tom.
Thanks,
V
