I have had this kit, stamped inside with "3/96", and "March 1996" in the bass drum, for a few years. I have been assuming that the shells are 4-ply, based on what i can see, and on the fact that they're pretty thin and lightweight, compared to what i have seen with the 6-ply "classic" shells. Upon looking at the bearing edges more closely, i'm second guessing my reasoning, as it seems that there are more than 4 plies, depending on how i look at it. The latest catalog that i have is the '94, but there are no pictures of the shells, just descriptions and labels of "classic" 6-ply and "super classic" 4-ply. I have tried all the resources i can find online for info, but can't find any clarification. Can anyone tell for sure what these shells are? The pics below are of the 13 x 12" tom.
Thanks!
