Thanks. I mean, you guys are the true drummers here, I haven't "really" played since 1976 (high school senior). I just today cleaned the Zildjian cymbals with this Barkeepers stuff someone recommended. Wow! Boy did it work fantastic. I'm putting all new complete heads on all these drums soon. Gonna stick to Remo. Any suggestions? I hear clear bottoms may be better than coated, but I like the "vintage" look of the coated on the bottoms better. What do you think? Of course, not on the snare bottom. I can send you photos if your curious, just need an email address. Seriously, I'd be a dope to sell these. Knock on wood, don't need the dough, just was thinking about getting some shiny NEW drums. I'm only gonna be playing at home as a hobby anyway....

Vintage looks really cool on stage. I wouldnt be embarassed to show these next to anyones frigging DWs they bought while drinking coolaid. Your drums are probably 1969 Fullertons. During the transition period after the move from Ohio. And the Cleveland tag probably came from Fullerton. Same for the solid gray dayton BD.

Thanks. Hey, what coated Remo heads would you use to re-head my set? I'm gonna do this in the next week or so. I understand clear heads are proper for bottoms, but I like the look of white heads all around. Your thoughts? Essentially, I want to replicate the original look of this set. Guess I'm taking a walk down memory lane. I may have informed you I'm really just playing these things at home.

Head choice is HIGHLY and TOTALLY subjective to personal opinion. There isn't a right or wrong per se... but having said that:

I have been playing single ply coated white batter heads on my Rogers kits, and single ply coated resonant side as well, as those are, and/or were, OEM from Rogers. The resonant heads all have the Rogers logo as well, but of course that isn't at all required... but it is a nice vibe! :-) I personally don't use Remo... ( although there is nothing wrong with them at all! ) ... I prefer the Aquarian Satin Finish batter heads, but the Remo coated Ambassador line would be equal to those. Sixties vintage Rogers were always pretty much perceived as "Jazz" drums, and the coated white heads just sound and feel real nice on these. Once again though, completely subjective.

Ploughman!... I really love that particular picture! Those drums just LOOK SHARP! Course we already know how they sound!! :-) Got Rogers?!

Thanks for the response. Where in the world do you get the Rogers logo heads? I have several old worn ones, shoud I keep them for any reason? They aren't playable, but do say Rogers on them.

Hey Chuck26!...

I get all my Rogers logo heads from Jack Lawton down in Sunbury, PA. Jack takes coated Remo Ambassadors that are either plain white from Remo, or he REMOVES the Remo stamp, and stamps them with the Rogers logo just as it was in the 60's. They LOOK perfect... and of course they are excellent resonant sides, or batter too, your choice. It does give any vintage Rogers drum that little extra oomph in the aesthetics department. Tommy -- Thanks for the info. Cool seeing all this Rogers stuff. Like I've said, I really last played in 1976 (high school). My drums have been sitting in a buddy's house since then. Luckily I never dragged them all over, they are not banged up at all. I'm thinking about selling them and buying new drums -- I love the look of the newer drums with the wood looking drums and all. BUT, one, I know Rogers nuts like you would say "DON'T DO IT." Unless I get a fair price (yet to be determined) I won't. I'd like these drums to go to a true collector rather than some person just looking to re-sell them. They really are beautiful drums!
