As has already been pointed out, Remo = no oil option. Evans Hydraulics only. If your looking for a certain sound, the Evans can work well - with a bit of attention. Buy a single and try it. My recommendation is, thin reso (diplomat or 7 mil weight), and the Evans batter MUST be tuned highish. This combo sounds very nice. Hydraulics tuned down sound terrible.

I did try the hydraulics on some 14/16 rototoms in the 80's and thought it improved the tone, but the sustain was completely gone. Overall it worked for those size rototoms.

Just like Pinstripes they sound better on open ended toms.

i have only used them in the 80's on a 69 pearl kit shot gun that was worked fine back then
April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
