Club Date vs Super Classic or Downbeat

Are the shells the same? I know the lugs and hardware are a bit different. I have never played a set of Club Dates. how do they sound in comparision to the others? I can only say that my Supers sound amazing. Chewie:

Yes, they have the same shells.

The Clubdates have less hardware which equated to them being sold as a more budget-minded drum set in their day. In retrospect, some people feel that because they have less mass attached to the shells, the shells resonate more and are slightly warmer sounding. Others, though, will argue that the fact the Clubdates lugs are mounted in the center of the shell (as opposed to nearer the ends) has a more attenuating factor on the resonance. Personally, I can't tell the difference between the two.

All vintage Ludwig drums (even the Standards) up until the later 70's utilized the same 3-ply shells.
