Club date update

Loading...

Back in June I came across this dirty old Ludwig Club Date or should I say Combo. I dont have a floor tom for it so I guess its a combo for now. The bass drum was missing the front claws, rods, hoop and head. I have finally found the parts and installed them. The hoop I bought is 1.5" tall by 21" dia. . The hoop that came with it was 1.75" tall and 20 5/8" diameter. I knew the new hoop was smaller in hieght but thought gee here is a hoop with bsp inlay, 20" diameter and whats the chance of finding that again! After putting it together I am a little dissapointed that the claws dont wrap around the hoop very good. Its obvious that I do not have the correct hoop but whats the chances on getting a sbp inlay hoop that is 1.75" by 20 5/8" ??? I think I will hold on to the new hoop and keep looking for it.

I was just happy to see the new face on the bass drum and wanted to show it off. Good day to ya!

Thank you!

I put wood hoops on the 89 Rockstars I practice on,and they were narrower than the steel hoops,so I made little black felt gaskets that follow the inside contour of the claw.Worked out very nice-the claw is completely contacting the hoop.

Now thats an idea! I know restoring old cars its important to get the origional parts with serial number that match the year of the car. I am guessing its like that with drums also. Problem is, there are no serial numbers on every part. It must just take experience and luck to get the right parts for your old drums. I do want it to be as close as possible because my plan was to sell these when complete. It will be hard but I will do it, we need the cash to visit my daugter in Fla. Got to get back to work on the Stewart kit!

Thank you!
