I recently purchased a clear vistalite super sensitive 6 1/2 x 14 snare drum. The drum has a pointed B/O badge with 1042944 on it. What year drum is this. I only bought it because I had never seen one before and I thought it could be collectible. What can anyone tell me about this drum as I know very little about vistalites? Is it rare? valuable?

There are a lot of different factors with a drum like this. Maybe a few points will help.
Affecting the value
1. Clear is the most common
2. Ludwig re-introduced Vistalite drums
3. Someone was faking vistalite drums
4. The Super Sensitive is not a favored strainer
5. 6.5 is a collectible size and rarer of the vista snares
6. Vistalite snares are collectible
So a value with all of those factors is in the $300 - $400 range depending on condition. Serial number and badge puts it in the late 70's - Rob Cook's Chart has it around 1978-1979
