Clear Sound "Made in Japan".

What I meant was that particular large chip pattern wmp wrap

used on this subject kit

looks a lot like the stuff Pearl used on their later stencil kits

but oh heck yes just about everyone offered some form of wmp

I would love to know more about Tiesco

I have a few kits that for sure do not match up to Pearl or Star

so I was thinking maybe some sets that I assume to be Hoshino K built

may actually be made by this Tiesco

For example I have some Fuji badged drums that look like no others I have found

The lugs of which look basically like Ludwig large classics only without the distinctive lines

Also this silver sparkle floor tom has the super thin shell the Gretsch clone lugs

same thing again on this Tele-Star kit

I was always thinking Hoshino K but maybe its Tiesco?

Could that be a Gracy-made set? They used Gretsch pointy lugs.

Hello,

Just to point out at this old starter's post:

That 'Clear Sound' kit was NOT made by Star.

Lugs are too slim (the ones from Star are equal, but a little bit more wide).

Tom holder unit is different from Star made ones.

Cheers, Ralf

These look like Yamamoto (maker of the Gracy brand). They were known for their Gretsch like lugs.

Star never made Gretsch style lugs. This was made by Yamamoto which became Gracy. They were a smaller stencil supplier than the big three of Pearl, Star, & Hoshino (K). They went out of business in the early 70's.

Marc Patch is correct. I had an identical set which was badged as “Pro”. All hardware, including the Trixon style BD Rods, were the same. This set was manufactured by Gracy. Many matching pictures on the internet now, and all are Gracy.
