Cleaning Vistalites

Loading...

Hi gang,

I got my Vistalites back from my nephew and they are filthy! I tried searching for a thread on cleaning Vistalites but haven't had any luck.

What is recommended for cleaning the shells?

If someone knows a link to a thread here that already covers this - please post it.

TIA,

Jeff

I had this on the main web site.

I have always heard the Novus products were some of the best.

As a side note, I have heard horror stories with removal of shell hardware, lugs, mounts etc.. Be careful and make sure you match the tension on the bolts if you go that route.

Don't blow past what Dave just told you! You can -easily- crack a Vistalite shell by over-tightening the attachment hardware. I learned that lesson the hard way. By over-tensioning a lug screw I created a bad spider crack in a rack tom some years back. A tweak past finger-tight will do the trick. Don't crank the screws down, you'll ruin your shells. I've owned and restored at least a half dozen Vistalite kits in my time. The Novus products are all you need to remove light scratches and polish them up nicely.
