Cleaning Slingerland Wrap

I'm cleaning up a late '70s Slingerland kit (22" kick, 13" & 16" concert toms, 14" tom). I've been cleaning the lugs and got the rims all shined up. The kick drum cleaned up nicely, but the toms need a little TLC. The picture above is a rack tom. What should I use to clean the wrap?

Well, first you buy some new wrap and install it. Then, a quick wipe with a damp soapy rag and another with a dry rag ought to do it! ;)

I had some Fibes drums a while back that looked like yours. I got in a hurry and removed the wrap thinking it was not savable. Turns out I was wrong. I used some chrome polish from Menards and a ton of elbow greese and the drums turned out like a million bucks. Check it out,

Jeff, What did you use to apply the polish? And is Menards something special, or will any other chrome polish do?

Autosol metal polish is another that will do it too... lots of soft cloth..(an old tracksuit ) together with a sore finger does wonders.

Cheers

I used this stuff,

Just squirt it on to a soft cloth and go to town. Takes a lot of work/patience but worth the effort. If it dont work for you then you can at least say you tried.

Thank you!

Go slow and all should be fine. Don't let any liquid get into the cracks in the wrap. Hope all goes well.
