Cleaning Felt Bass Drum Beater Heads

Loading...

Does anyone know how to clean felt beater heads? I've tried a bleach and soap overnight soak and also heavy cycle in the clothes-washer .... neither worked well enought to write home about. Thanks.

Someone a while back posted a thread or reply about cleaning them. All I remember is it involved a sock and a washing machine. The end results were excellent. Maybe they'll see this and chime in or try the search. Please post it up if you find it I'm looking for it too. Need to clean the beater on the Speed King.

Funny, I'm at the same question at the moment with my 'new' Sonor double pedal.

I sourced out this:

But still I'm looking for the '100 % satisfaction' method ...

Well, I am sure glad to hear that I'm not alone in this quest! I did run a search here on VDF for "Cleaning Bass Drum Beaters." it returned a thread from 9/10/2011 started by LevonPurdie-StarrGadd. The most interesting post/reply was from EZduzzit ... who explains how to build a minature bed-of-nails to fluff up the felt for better cleaning!

I still haven't heard about the "put it in a sock" method ... might be promising!
