clamp on spurs

Good thought... But... I just tried it that way, and it didn't really work that well... the angle was still not right, and the support was weak.

As a comparison, look closely at the clamp on bass drum spurs at Precision Drum and you'll see the angles are different for how the spurs come out of the clamp part. http://www.precisiondrum.com/clamp-on_spurs.jpg

did you buy them seperate,or did they come off a kit, try one of the spurs on the other side of the rim, you may have two of the same sides!

I bought them as a pair, and they're mirror images of each other (left and right). I've tried reversing on the other side of the hoop, for both batter and resonant hoops. Still is a mystery!

Are these in fact bass drum spurs? What also seems odd is that the logos are different... I'd think it unlikely that there'd be a manufacturing error and different logos. I also am not sure as to the year these were produced. Anyone else have same spurs?

It is a puzzle! And, whatever their intended purpose, the pair of spurs is in beautiful condition, well manufactured.

Also - I briefly chatted with someone at Ludwig customer support earlier this week, and they had *no* info on these (they're geared, I was told, to current products anyway and don't have info to share on vintage stuff, at least at the Customer Support level).

I'd love to find out what the story is with this design! Meanwhile, looks like I'll have to find another set of spurs that can do the job. Any thoughts, recommendations, sources on that score would be good to know. The '57 bass drum is something I'd like to use playing out, but the foldup spurs that are native to it are kinda wobbly.

Sorta Yes - in the sense that that looks to be the same kind of folding spur that is mounted on my drum originally (although the bass drum model itself is different than the one in your photo - mine uses separate lugs per hoop, but still seems to be the Traveler series?, I'm guessing).

The clamp on spurs were not in your photo, though - those are the ones I'm wondering about.

Nice looking bass drum, by the way! What year/model is it?
