I was browseing CL in my area last night and saw a person had a 14x24 B/O Badge Champagne Sparkle Bass drum for sale. I emailed him and he got right back to me and I called this morning and he lived down the street from me. Like less than 2 miles. I asked him where the rest of the drums were and he said he had them but they went with another 14x24 bass drum that was older.
I went to see them and he had the two Bass drums out on the back porch and they were both in really great condition. The Keystone ones hoops were missing a little paint but no biggie. I asked him if I could see the other drums and the first one he brought out was the 14x14 floor with all lugs, hoop's and legs. I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head. Then he brought out two 9x13's and a 16x18 floor tom. Then he said he had a snare but not sure he wanted to part with it and I thought I was going to have a heart attack when he comes out with a immaculate Champagne sparkle jazz Fest snare. One 9x13 was out of round some but the other was fine. All the wraps on the drums are great and no fade whatsoever. All lugs are fine, he had the bottom hoops to the 13 and 18. Everything is great about this kit EXCEPT, I noticed after I made the deal there is a hole just above every leg mount on the 14". I dont have any idea what idiot did that. He said he didn't do it and is the original owner and that he thought it was a mistake from the factory?????. But I didn't even notice it at first I was so excited. So I am home now but cant really work on them today. The Latin wife is having a fit for me bringing another large set home. So one of my vintage sets have to go. Maybe my Premier Resonators. Darn it. or part of this one. This is a nice kit. The 14 and 24 have clear interiors and the others are white. Keystone Badges, Red baseball bat muffler on the 14 and white one on the 18. Round mufflers on the 13 and snare.
Is that the correct muffler on the snare if it is a 68? He also threw in a couple of nice bass drum heads, that snare stand and a 14x24 H&B case and a external bass drum muffler. The guy still has the other 14x24 Bass drum and it is really nice and the out of round 9x13. I should have checked to see the muffler and swapped if it was a baseball bat.
