By the way, here is a different ching ring used by Ginger Baker.(check out the blond girl in the front row, with the bugged out eye's).Anyway I am hoping to use a ching ring to hit as a tamborine on certain songs. I don't have to hit hard. I heard a song ahile back where the drummer stopped playing the snare and just hit the ring(or tamborine) and cymbal at the same time.It sounded really mellow. Thanks for the help.V
I always thought that was a home made job....maybe not.Hmmmm
One song where you can really hear what sounds like a ching ring is "Get Together" by The Youngbloods. Listen carefully.
P.S. I've appearantly had my ring mounted upside-down forever, but it really puts out a great sound that way!
After trying, and returning, a couple similar of RhythmTech units with which I was very unhappy, and losing several eBay bids for a real Kester Ching Ring I bought one of these: www.drumsmithonline.com/accessories.html.I'm very happy with it. As VM2000 referenced, I have not compared it to an original, but it has a nice loud "ching" that I like. Works good for me.
I chopped up one of the rhythm tech jobs and use it but not very fond of it. After reading this thread and figuring I won't be able to pry a NOS from any members here, I followed GG Vintage and ordered one of the repros he linked up. Hell I spent a bunch more than twenty bucks on a lot less so if I like it I figure it;s a bargain! Thanks GG
So what do nice originals go for these days? I always liked them too.
it varies...75 ballpark? ive seen them lower and ive seen them much higher..

Here is how I mounted my original ching-ring (missing one set, which I still have). It works well!
