Cheap fun

Found these MIT red sparkles in a divey pawn shop. They are exact matches for my red sparkle Apollos except the badges have been removed and this kit has 20" kick. Pretty rough but only gave $30 for them. I plan to keep them just like they are and use them for a junker kit to tote around to various non-public jam sessions. They nest nicely into one kick case.

that's a good idea actually. A cheap travelling kit when space is a premium in the car. It's not going to be super hi fi but it'll do the trick for some performances and at $30 it won't matter too much what happens to it. And i Really like using those old Pearl tom mounts. They are small but have a good range of adjustability.

Nice score! 30 bucks wow. The best I ever found was a Kent kit Bassdrum, snare drum, rack tom all Kents blue sparkle and a Zimgar floor tom for 15.00. Gotta love those kinda deals!

Good score! The upgraded Yamaha spurs are worth the $30 alone. These look identical to my Red Sparkle CB-700's save the shell mounted cymbal holder. Was the case included too?

No, the case is what I've always kept my usual "travel" kit in---an old pearl kick that I (gasp!) cut in half years ago. I also used an old 13" cheap tom that I converted to a floor tom and it all packed into the case along with a piccolo snare and 16" cymbal. Here is a picture of the old travel kit so you can see the carnage.

I like the "new" travel kit better.
