CB700 "Supersensitive" SD, Need Info PLEASE!!

Loading...

OK, I'm not finding much on this snare drum on the 'net.

So, ANY info anyone could provide would be much appreciated!

It's a CB700 6.5x14 Snare Drum with what obviously was their answer to Ludwig's Supersensitive model. It has the wrist-watch style of lugs (10), what I believe to be a chrome-plated aluminum shell. The dual throw-off mechanism is broken on the inside of the throw-off side, and I've not taken it apart (yet) to see if & how to fix. It is complete except for snare wires and a snare-side head; the head of course is no problem but I need a picture or some sort of info to be able to hook up with the correct snare wires.

Other than the broken throw-off, this drum is in excellent condition. Almost as good as my (near) mint Pearl Jupiter model (that I've owned and used since 1978) of the same size.

I have a late 1970s CB700 Kaman catalog, but this drum seems to be newer than that, as nothing like it is in the catalog.

So, again, any info on this drum and/or info on the dates of CB700 drums with this style of lug, PLEASE chime in!

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, Your drum is from about 1974 to 76..I can't tell by your photo but it looks like the strainer is missing a piece at the bottom that the wires go onto.If you could post a up-close photo i would be able to tell you more......Mikey

Mike, thanks for the reply. I'll try to get a close-up posted Tuesday evening!

WOW!!

Had a bad day at work today. Getting ready to lock-down the building, arm the alarm, clock out and GO HOME. Old buildings just weren't built with adding technology in mind!

Anyway, I had a few minutes, so I visited the "sister site" and this is what I found:

WOW!! Just what I needed, and right under my nose!

Just another example of why I like this forum and its sister sites!
