I think those are some of the coolest lugs ever. A bit in the modern flavor, but totally unique. I would keep them. They will show up eventually.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thanks for the leads ! I may use them. The springs inside the lugs seem pretty bad though. I just hope they tune up right

Just use these - make them from nylon tubing at the hardware store. No spring ring and no more spring problem for you.

I heard of the cotton trick and had to do it with my 18 slingerland bass drum. But never heard of using nylon tubing .. Ill give it a try

Here's pictures of the two I sold. I stripped and painted the 'copper' kit, the yellow one I cleaned. The one I'm working on now, I stripped and am painting. The copper kit is standard sizes, 22 inch bass, etc... the yellow is a 24 inch bass.

ACE job on those "coppers"... what brand of paint did you use? filler?

jmpercussion85: Yes, don't swap out those lugs. The original CB-700 lugs are very cool indeed!

Drummerjohn333: Wow, great idea! That tubing looks like it will cure the rusted spring problem. I'm going to try that.

davezedlee: Thanks for the kindness. I used spray paint, out of a can... Jeff (jcacabinets) calls 'em 'rattle cans'... Anyway, it's Rustoleum Metallic Copper. About three and a half cans. For filler, I used some kind of epoxy stuff I had in the garage. Yes, I'm very exacting and scientific in my restoration endeavors... (/sarc)
