Catalina Club Project

I have a gretsch catalina club rock kit. 26/18/13 Green Sparkle.Im wanting to make it a one up- two down kit to rent, Ive been searching for a Gretsch Catalina Club 16X16 Green sparkle floor tom, but to no avail... I have also failed to find a 16" catalina club floor tom of any finish. I have aquired a few toms with matching lugs and tom brackets pretty cheap. I have learned that pdp and ddrum have lugs that have a 1" hole spacing, just like my gretsch lugs.

Pearl forum lugs do tooo, but they are only 6 lug. IM gonna find me a shell that will match my lugs for. It may be a vintage shell so ............

I also have a 6X14 catalina club 10 lug snare I plan to make match to this kit.

Ahhh.....in my opinion, the Cat Club drums arent worthy of the Gretsch name.

Yes, they sound "decent", but thats about it, they just dont have that magical Gretsch sound. For me, if it doesnt have those wonderful Gretsch Die Cast hoops (the Cats dont), it Aint a Gretsch!

I understand that Gretsch arent what they used to be, especially the catalina line. I bought this kit at a pawn shop for cheap. I get requests for all different configurations on rentals. I cant have everything. Good heads makes a lot of difference though. These kits are always miced anyway. The sound engineer can make em sound just fine.

I really dont want to spend thousands of dollars on DW or Yamaha or any other high end drum kit. I would never recoup my investment. I could refit some of my vintage kits with newer hardware and devalue the hell out of them. NOT! lol
