once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Pain reminds you ,you are still alive, after 55 i seemed to get all sorts of them but the worst is my tennitis a cymbal crash without hearing protection will have me diving for cover or cringing on the floor... I guess it just sucks to get old...

I suffered from carpel-tunnel syndrome for years. About 5 years ago, I went to a chiropractor for a minor back problem. When I told him about the carpel-tunnel, he told me, "I can help you with that!" The guy worked on my -neck- for three sessions 'allegedly' to treat the carpel-tunnel, which I didn't think would work.

I was wrong! After those three sessions, I have not had a single symptom of the carpel-tunnel return. Symptom free for 5 years now. I don't know how or why it worked, I just know that it did. Before surgery, or drugs, try a chiropractor! Worked for me...

John that is amazing. I've never heard of that treatment but will look into it. Carpal Tunnel was the major reason I stopped playing years ago. My hands went numb, then shooting pain, I drop sticks etc...... Plus working as a printer for some 35+ years hasn't helped much either. My boys play bass and guitar and have CT as a result of excessive playing, computers and video games. I bought them each a pair of fingerless Infrared gloves which have really helped. I borrowed them a few times but don't like wearing gloves to play. But they have helped quite a bit. www.therapygloves.com

Mike, I totally agree with you regarding tinnitus...The worst is at night when all is quiet but the ringing in your ears...

Cheers

I had for years and didn't know how bad it was until I got it fixed. Every night it felt like my hands had gone to sleep (without me). Had a whole bunch of fancy tests, the most tell was the most basic when my local GP stuck me all over the hands with a pin. I felt it but didn't flinch.. that he said is carpal tunnel!

Tried physio but didn't get any results.

I had the operation, both hands at the same time. The next night I felt the difference (the best sleep in YEARS!!!)

A week later I was driving, two weeks later I was pretty much back to normal and playing (with the previso I didn't go over board and do hours of playing).

Cheers
