Very interesting floor tom leg configuration.
Amazing hardware on these drums and i wish i knew more about them.Guess that`s why i`m here on this great and wonderful forum. The Capelle`s look to be of a very good caliber and thanks for posting them and an education in French made drums.Look forward to hearing more about this set.

Very cool! I love how Jacques Capelle used his knowledge of bicycles to design drum hardware. Very cool stuff. I've played his hi hats and kick pedals before but I have never actually heard a drum kit. Those look like some sweet mahogany shells under there!
Thanks for your comments. :)
Capelle was a long family history in drum making: starting from Cirichelli brand (from 1918 to 1948), then Sonic (50's - 60's), then Capelle (from 1975 to 2010)
Kits from 70's and 80's were greatly engineered: in-house mahogany shells, heavy duty wrap (same type as the wrap used in kitchen industry), high quality chrome. Some parts were reused from other industries: bicycle saddle lever from Italy (Sicur brand)
Until Japanese tsunami, mid 80's they were highly praised kits in France, with a lot of innovations in hardware (see high hat pedal and bd pedal from this era). When Japan won the "drum war" with their cheap and good quality kits (Tama swingstar & Pearl export), Capelle focused on custom kits, orchestral drums (niche market) and cheap Chinese imported stuff. Then they disappeared in 2010 when Jacques Cirichelli Capelle retired.
Beautiful drum kit my dear ! As usual... ;)
