This happened to me with a wfl tone knob. I eventually just muscled it loose. Just when your by the drum give it a few shots.
That and some of the white lithium grease I use on my sailplane finally did the trick, although I sacrificed a bit of skin to the gods of drum restoration twisting the heck out of it.
