Cannon 6 1/2"x14" 10 Lug wood snare

I got this Cannon snare drum thrown in on a recent deal. I didn't pay much attention to it until the other day. I had been looking for a black Acrolite for cheap to go with my 66 black Galaxy Ludwig bass drum I use with Ludwig silver sparkle toms. Then I realized it matched my Ebony Rogers set. It looks pretty old, has 10 lugs and 6 1/2"x14" and what looks like maple interior ply, maybe bass wood ? I can't tell but it is as nice wood as most of the inside of the majority of the snare drums at the local guitar center. I know these are supposedly cheap imports but I took it completely apart and cleaned it up and put a new Ambassador head and snare wires on it and it sounds pretty darn good, plus matches my Rogers kit. It sounds more like a steel shell than wood shell drum. I can't find this same drum anywhere when searching the net. Not one like it. I did find a similar 8 lug model in wood on a foreign ebay page. The only thing I can find are recent metal snares. I am going to use it on some gigs. Looks nice with my set too. Anyone know anything about this drum ?

Cannon retailed a large line of drum accessories (and some drums) years ago. If you research some vintage Modern Drummer Magazine issues circa late 1970's - mid 1980's you will find many Cannon advertisements and will likely find a few reviews of their equipment. Hope this is of some help to you.

I had a Cannon snare drum some years back that I got for cheap on eBay. It was a Fibes Clone, complete with FST strainer/butt. The shell was COW. I'm attaching the small, poor, original eBay photos, along with a Cannon ad from MD.
