Cancelled Gig

From DownTownFarmer

That statement by you probably makes this one of the rarest types of thread on the whole internet. As for my response, I didn't realize they were getting a lot of rain in JR's area, on top of which I was projecting my own bad haircut on the club owners.Maybe this thread should be removed...Mitch

We had gotten some rain earlier in the week and it did rain that day, but it only lasted an hour. I guess the whole point of this thread is the idiotic behavior of the club owners. The gig was indoors, they thought since all the know it all weather men were predicting more rain that no one would come out, so they cancelled us in case they had a slow night. As it turned out, there was no more rain. It was a bad call and of course, the band suffers the consequences.

I don't see what the big deal is. It's just friendly banter something you don't seem too well versed in.

The guy was down $100 so I came up with a genius solution to earn $100 playing drums. What's the problem? I don't understand.

Why not? If the moderator doesn't feel it's appropriate, he can remove it with one swoop of his mighty finger.Violin

JR!

Admittedly, the thought of "he can remove it with one swoop of his mighty finger" makes me kind of giddy... but I assure you, my edits/deletions are not quite that cavalier! That said, I/we do allow quite a bit in the GENERAL category, and unless a thread is just completely insipid or banal, or deteriorates into a "brush fire", it shall remain! Indeed!

I had the same thing happen to me last Saturday only I didn't hear about it until I drove 45 minutes to get there. Second time that has happened to me in the last 40 years :)

Absolutely! Like I said, the reason given seemed totally devoid of logic, I mean maybe some people will stay in because it's raining outside but not many when the final destination is indoors....!

That was a joke referring to the fact that almost no one on the internet ever says "my idea was flawed" but rather will continue arguing until the cows come home. A very general joke-statement about the internet.

Then when I said maybe the thread should be removed that was a joke referring to my previous comment about my haircut, which was intentionally lame, once again for the sake of humour.

In short, I had thought to be a very funny fellow indeed but....my idea was flawed. Perhaps it was the Jamiesons....

Any time you see "DownTownFarmer" and wonder, is this guy joking? the answer is yes!

A little wink at the end of your post will do just fine. ;)

Ah yes, the smilies! I often wonder should I use em, but notice others don't always...and then I think, well I'm going on about my own bad haircut; dude's gotta know I'm joking!

I think I'll take your advice....:)

Don't do any gigs without a signed contract. It's unprofessional to work without a signed contract. The written agreement should include a paragraph that covers (untimely) cancellations.

John

Too many great drums to list here!
