Just wondering if any of you guys can identify this snare drum ? The suspense is killing me.. The owner mentions that it could be from the late 1800's, but he could very well be wrong..Looks like it could be

a seamless brass shell.. I may pick it up just to decorate my drum gear room ;)), or maybe play it on occasion..

Hey Human71! Since we both scour Kijiji Qc I'll be thinking of you next time I call a good deal on vintage drums in the 514 area and get a busy signal!;)

Looks like a cool snare. If I had to guess I'd say 20s or 30s, but looking forward to hearing any input from knowledgeable folks. Au plaisir!

I don`t think it`s Brass. I think the way it is oxidizing that it`s Copper. Paul Revere red Copper. A lot of drums were made of this way back in the day. Companies in Europe like Premier and SONOR also used red Copper from Brazil, Europe or New England.

You need a matching FT ? This is table is made of Red Copper and it`s patina is all the colors of your snare. Chances are yours is Military marching.

If you get it, you know what we`re gonna want.

Hey guys.. Thanks for all the input ..Funkypoodle, it's great to know that someone from my area is on this forum as well ;).. Unfortunately, my budget is tight, and i won't be able to pick this little guy up ..Maybe you, FP ? ;) Looks like it needs a good cleaning and polishing to bring it back to life..But it's probably unplayable seeing as how the parts are antique, and at $150, it's just a little too much to use as a decorative piece..

I don't speak French - I left the seller a message....in English. I'm hoping he can speak English...enough to email me or phone back. Interesting drum.

Good luck !.. Lachine is considered an English district these days, but just in case he doesn't call you, you can always do a google translate. It's what i usually do.. However, i do speak french.. ;)
