Based on the design of the lugs (shark tooth) and the tension rod receptor inserts, I'm pretty confident identifying this as a Hoshino made set. However, the particulars, or history of the Hoshino manufacturer are not well known. There just isn't that much info out there other than a handful of pics on this site. Usually they have 6 lug bass drums whereas yours has 8. Kudos.

And that's a beautiful wrap, by the way. Love that you're still rocking these!

Thanks so much for your info - really appreciated. I have never thought of a U.S Mercury kit and the fact that it may be a stencil makes sense since the snare strainer looks like an early Priemier model? Do you know how much these kits go for in the market these days - not that I am looking to sell it, just curious? Thanks! Grant

If that strainer isn´t a retro-fitted Premier - it is a very good copy:

The rest of the kit is Hoshino Kougyou - I had a kit with the same lugs. The threaded inserts in the lugs aren´t held in place by springs as in most MIJ kits, but are simple pieces of mild steel plate with a thread cut into them.

Cheapest possible way to do it.
