I have a 37 Gretsch wood shelled snare drum that has tube lugs 2 3/8" (a little over 60mm) long. One of the lugs is pretty much toast I even tried rethreading it with no luck - stripped out and outer shell is worn through.
I can't see any lugs of this length out there - I've tried eBay and Drum Factory Direct and searching the web - no luck yet.
I don't want to drill the holes bigger or make new holes in the shell. I thought I might try getting some longer ones and cutting them to fit the shell. I see there is a slight taper at the end of the tube to make the knobby end-piece fit so cutting a lug down might be a little tricky.
Before I buy some longer lugs - has anyone here cut tube lugs down?
